| Hi, it's me again. I have another question regarding that upcoming road test: Are these MPI-dudes somehow allergic against loud pipes ? I mean in the handbook it says something about a muffler in good working order. My Vince and Haynes are in such a state, they're just a little bit loud.... Could this lead to them refusing to test me? Maybe I'm worrying to much about details , but where I come from loud pipes are a huge issue. Thank you very much, Tom | |

| I'm going to guess that as long as your pipes are within the legal limits, you will be fine. | |

| They cannot refuse you the test if your bike is deemed safe and legal. As the Manitoba Govt Safety inspection has nothing in it about the volume, they legally cannot refuse you for the volume of your pipes. They can refuse you if the pipes are illegal (no baffles or mufflers, not secure to the bike, have holes in them, etc).
That being said, remember to be respectful and courteous. If you argue with them, they will find a way to screw you over. However, if you are nice to them, they are usually nice back. When I took my test, the brake light switch for my rear brake decided to die on me (very typical of a HD) and they still let me take the test with the assurance that if they did not see a brake light they would nail me for not applying the brakes. Needless to say, I made sure to use my front brakes fully....
Also, don't go revving the engine. If you cannot hear their radio and miss a direction it goes against you. Besides, they are riding behind you - giving them a headache is not a way to get them to mark you favorably.
Good luck! | |

| Thanks for your answers. I will make sure not to "show off" and try to proof what a tough guy I am. I'll let you know how it went and than I would like to meet you people sometimes. Is there something like a MBVROC gettogether throughout a season? Tom | |

| <sigh>
Well, we used to get together every Thursday night for an evening ride and most weekends at least one day out of the two for an all-day ride but no one wants to organize it anymore. I tried to get the Thursday night ride going again a couple of times but it fell flat, and the club member who used to create the most amazing day trips is caught up on home reno for the past 4 years. I myself cannot fault him as my wife and I have hardly had the bikes out again this year, third summer in a row where home reno or landscaping (or sickness in the family) has held us back.
All I can tell you for sure is that we will have our non-denominational non-religion winter celebration dinner (in other words a Christmas Party, but don't tell anyone) in January again (we have it after all the frantic and hectic time in January when almost everyone can make it) and the Concours d'Elegance with Headingley Sport Shop in the Spring. As for anything over and above that, if you want to organize a ride go for it! Pick a time and place to meet up, and go from there! It's a great bunch of people in this club, but no one wants to stand out by taking the lead.... | |

| Great job! Looks like you sweated the test for nothing.... always better to over analyze than under analyze. Now you need to get some real bugs in your teeth - the juicy ones come out after sunset! ;o) | |
