MBVROC Forum vs Facebook

At today's meeting, we voted to get rid of our website and just keep the forum. <sigh> That forum was a lot of work and really does nothing for us other than get us to our forum....

However, it was proposed that we could create a Facebook page and do the same work as on this forum. I will be checking to see if I can link the forum directly to our domain but if more people are comfortable with Facebook that with the forum, we can go with that instead. Facebook does have some great features and is more compatible for smart phones.

I'd like to add a suggestion to this. On Facebook, you can choose to create an "Open Group" or a "Closed Group". With an open group, anybody and everybody can go on your page, read and see everything that's even been posted. With a closed group, only members who have been approved and added by the page's administrator can post, and only they can read the posts. If it comes to using Facebook rather than the forum, I would suugest the closed group. This way the whole world doesn't know who's away on vacation, or gone off for the weekend, etc. For everyone's privacy and safety, that would seem like the better way to go.

To add to what PG had posted earlier... with facebook you can also get email notification of any new posts!

Good info, and I think that Jane has aalready done so on the Facebook MBVROC page already. She's running with it to see what can be offered.
